Am I full of SH!T?
Do you ever look in the mirror and ask that? I certainly do.
Sometimes I mean “I am lying to myself.” More often, what I mean is that I am the opposite of what I am trying to be.
Too often, my reflection looks back at me, and I am Stalling. Or Hurting and licking my wounds, real or imagined. Or Irrational. Or I am just plain Triggered.
Folks, I’m tired of being Full of SH!T. I hope you are too.
Curiosity. Humility. Intentionality. Teachability.
When people are full of SH!T they end up with an empty cup — a cup that needs to be full of CHIT instead.
You may be pouring into everyone around you, and you may feel nothing comes back.
I am pretty good at curiosity. I am not too bad at intentionality. I try to be humble and teachable.
The book is coming late 2026
Full of CHIT turns those four words into something you can actually use. It’s being written now. In between, I share stories and notes as they come — and that’s where I’ll say the release date out loud before anywhere else.
Free. Full of CHIT on Substack — occasional stories and notes for helpers, leaders, and service-minded people who are tired of pouring from an empty cup. No schedule promised.
Need a bit more?
Two short reads that explain the whole idea faster than this page can.
Why does John S. Johnson want to be Full of CHIT?
Why I’m building this, and what the four words are for.
When you are not Full of CHIT, what are you full of?
Hint: it’s something an over-the-counter laxative won’t cure.
Start with the memoir
Before the framework, there was the story. Breaking Building Belonging: Why the Voices We Follow Matter is the first book in the Voices That Matter series — a memoir about poverty, early trauma, and the voices that shaped who I became.
