Throw Down your Shield and Embrace the Awkward

Sometimes someone relates to our willingness to be awkward and vulnerable and it brings value to their lives.

Throw Down your Shield and Embrace the Awkward is a story about triumphing over a case of “chronic awkward.”

I am now cross publishing my stories on Medium. One way to support Four4Soaring is to go out to Medium to read the stories, clap, comment and share. Don’t hate, but I have earned nearly a nickel already! LOL

Here is the Medium link for this story, a teaser of the story is below.

Medium provides a way to monetize stories and to share on various publications. I have submitted this story to a publication, The Post Grad Survival Guide and sadly, it was rejected.

I am learning and growing, in the meantime, I also have my own publications out there and I added it to Stories4Soaring linked below:

I have various social media platforms (that do not go by my name) to inspire and encourage folks and to make them laugh. They do OK in the views and impressions department, but I am not exactly what one would call an “influencer.”

However, what they have provided me with, along with this blogging thing I pound out typically in the wee hours of any given morning before work begins, is a priceless feeling of adding just a little sprinkle of value into people’s lives.

The bonus is they have also given me a place to express, share, and try to push back “my chronic awkward.” Putting my thoughts, my curated quotes, my curated dad jokes out there along with some stories has forced me to share much more of myself than I ever thought I would be comfortable with as a kid. Here is a photo of me as a child to demonstrate exactly how awkward that was. (to read the rest of the story click here)

I am seeking to discover, find and share salt and light into the world. After growing up in financial poverty, but with a wealth of loving people lifting me up all along the way, I struggled for a good while to "do it all on my own." Until I finally found something indescribable in a mere "about me" section of a blog. Now I have the peace that discovery provides as well as the overwhelming urge to share everything I can with as many as I can. I am now trying to use those life experiences, my formal and informal education, and my over 25 years of human resources and leadership experience to have a broader conversation with the world about that something, that Light, and about Love and Leadership...with a dose of Laughter along the way. 4 Ls to Live by and to Soar by: Four for Soaring.
